When More than a Dollar is Available....

Like any good quest, one must consider all price points. It is always a thrill to capture a bargain but the luxury of having more than just a few dollars to spend provides a completely different feeling of acquisition. Attention to detail paired with the right outfit can make a WOW statement. My little Starfish just might end up being the focal point of the week. There are 6 of us in the group and we have vowed to each purchase a different Starfish for our little "jewelry momento". I have drooled over more than one of these.....wonder which one will end up making it's way to my house?
Gonna be Shaggin' soon!

The soothing colors and textures of this foursome makes me instantly think of the ocean....Love it! It is by indivijewels on Etsy...I love the long chain (30 inches) and can picture it over a simple dress. It is 65.00 - Her shop is filled with intricate creations.

Can't you picture the shimmery reflection of the ocean in this piece? 24 inches of chain ending in pure delight! It is by lulidesigns. There are a few other Beachy items in her shop on Etsy. This necklace is 52.00.

Okay, I know....It is pricey at 172.00 but I kept coming back just to stare at it....Gorgeous. By AshaOcean and there are coordinating earrings available.

Of course, this is caught my eye because you can get it MONOGRAMMED!! It is by upmysleeveboutique and you will enjoy browsing in this shop. It's cool! The piece is 68.00.

Gold is making a comeback and I love the added Blue Goldstone. Ultra Chic. It is 95.00 and by HighSeasLA on Etsy. There are several Starfish to choose from in the shop.

I Learned to Shag on the Beach with the Salt in the Air...

This is a Southern Girl's Favorite time of year....a beach trip in sight...and my favorite even is about to occur. There is nothing better than an ice cold Beer and Sand between my toes Shagging on the Beach to authentic Beach Music tunes. Tunes by The Embers, The Catalinas, and General Norman Johnson and The Chairman of the Board (The Drifters don't count as "real" Beach Music......This year, I thought about having a theme for our trip and getting a status piece of jewelry for it. Everyone loved the idea and is in for the buy. This is the first of a few posts featuring my Starfish finds.....May you find something to represent your Summer as well!
Shaggin Always,

The Radiance of Summer

It's here....and I can tell! One more full week of school left and the fun begins! My favorite thing about Summer is the fact that daylight lasts longer. That means I actually can dress it up and go out with hubby/friends and enjoy the sparkle of sun instead of running frigidly to the car just to have a little fun. I decided it was time for new makeup. Wandering into Neiman Marcus, I spotted a familiar logo. A bit confused at first, I took a look. Yes, it's true - My favorite jeans have a brand new relative! Rock and Republic now makes makeup! I am now the proud owner of this Blush! The name of my favorite color is exactly where I am in my marriage - when time allows....Seduce. Mommyhood is left at the door and I have already had several friends comment on my new "radiance" so I know it works. The colors in this line are extremely concentrated and the packaging is like a small gift box. Each time I use it feels like a treat just to open it. I played with the eye shadows a bit and have something to look forward to when my current supply runs out....

Depends on How Close You Are....

I have a nephew who is graduating and I am going to do the cool Aunt gift of cash.....Not the previously mentioned Visa - but thought I would order these and attach the tens (100.00)around the waistband.....I am also getting a cute monogram Toiletry bag (will post it here when I find it! This is definitely an out of the box gift idea.....but I love the whole monogram skivvies thing...... Unfortunately, the site where I found them is not online, so I am off to K-Mart for Joe Boxers (great price) and to the local monogram shop!

Disguised Cash....The Perfect Gift!

I now have 2 guys to buy Grad Gifts for. Why oh Why are guy gifts so hard? I COULD stick with the old cliche gifts....but I am not a cliche kind of chick. My gifts must be stand outs. Of course, what all grads really want is cash, but that would be tacky and way too easy. SO! I was thrilled to find these - Personalized Visa Cards. This way, I show that I spent at least 10 minutes thinking about the gift and didn't rely on the grocery store checkout line.....You can upload any image or text and personalize these babies....Loaded with your chosen amount from 20 - 500.00...Wrap it up and be remembered for giving the coolest gift!
Check it by CLICKING HERE!

I'm Not a Diva - But Every Little Bit Helps....

I get excited when I find a steal at TJ Maxx or Marshalls....the only such stores within 2 hours of me....I always visit Filenes or Steinmart when I find myself in a city lucky enough to have them. I have pretty much exhausted Bluefly....and I will reluctantly shop eBay as a last resort....I am thrilled to have another choice...and with much better stuff! Net-A-Porter has launched a new outlet site with ultra designer names. You, too, can fake Diva status by visiting
I already have a full checkout basket. Must go pay for it and begin stalking the mailbox.

Time Out for Moms....

Here it is! That day we as moms love...we hope....sometimes the stress of it all can drive you nuts....but let's focus on the positive side of things. I cherish all the drawings, half cooked breakfasts and fights over who gets to give mom her gift first. Most of all, I love being able to decide how the day will be spent. Ah, choices. I told my husband I would like to spend the day in the spa and he looked at me as is I had sprouted horns. Let's just hope it doesn't rain....most of what I want to do is outside. There is work to be done in the yard and what better day to arrange for forced help?
As daughters, don't just sit there. DO SOMETHING. The grocery store flower department can be your best friend. At the very least, give a card. For me, my mom and all those I love who are moms, I am going to follow the stand by rule. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. It works.
Happy Mothers Day weekend. Spend it wisely, You will be glad you did!

Part 2: Girly Grad Gifts - A Picture Frozen in Time....

Any gift that speaks to a girl's narcissistic side will be a winner. Thus, Photo Holders are a sure bet for a grad gift! Albums, Memo Boards, Photo Trees, Frames.....and if you can place a picture on board, it's even better. If not, I like to print an inspirational saying to place in the frame or on the board....I am still on the hunt for the perfect gift for a few people and these are up on my list!
Preppy Girl

Cross-Stitching. Thank you, Mom! I learned at an early age - completed several projects and now I wonder why in the world I stopped? It was so addictive and I still have some of my projects around the house. Glad to see someone is still at it - I love this photo album and it would make a sweet gift! Visit her Etsy shop ForKeepsSake for more themes......wonder if she takes custom orders?

I like the sweet simplicity of this Memo Board but this cute shop has several to choose from - AND it's personalized! Visit Texas Susannie's Shop on Etsy!

I also love the simplicity of this board as well!

This site has Oodles and Oodles of Frames to choose from. I have learned from experience that frames inetended for Little Girls never go out of style when personalized for a big girl. And, if the girl goes Greek, it's that much better! Find your choice of frame HERE!

Part 1: Girly Grad Gifts...Frill the Pink!

My mailbox tells me it's that time again. The onslaught of Graduation Announcements has begun. A Southern Girl knows that B.) all announcements of any kind, shape, form or fashion must be acknowledged. And B.) Cash gifts may be desired, but are extraordinarily tacky unless the recipient is related to you in an immediate way. That leaves me holding on to my wallet with sweaty palms. However, cute gifts can be had if you just turn on the think switch. Here are a few things I am thinking of this year!
Shaggin in May,
Preppy Girl

The Monogram Flower Pot - However, I am not putting Flowers in it! I will head to my closest Walmart and purchase the pot and a can of Spray Paint (matching their future college color is cool) and order THIS MONOGRAM and voila! I am thinking of filling with the towels below for a total gift cost of about 20.00 - You can also fill with monogram note cards (thank yous - let's hope they know that hint-hint) Or, cute items that go with their future college which may be obtained pretty cheap - pencils, stickers, plastic cups, etc.

If your grad is a college grad, I am loving this Acrylic Tub with monogram - Fill with bubbly and it makes a great affordable gift! Get the Monogram! You can find the tub at The Container Store, Bed, Bath and Beyond, Target and Walmart has them out right now, too!

I love the bright color of this tote and it's 15.00 price is wonderful! Since it is already monogrammed, you can pick up a cute oversize or beach towel to stick in it! Add some tissue and voila! Check it out on Etsy!

These are the most affordable towels I have found! You can choose different fonts and colors. Great to put in a tote or the adorable Flower pot! Hello, eBay!

Carrying on a Tradition

Yes, It's Derby time! But, Southerners know this is one tradition that is always in style. The Mint Julep cup has been on many a Southern Wedding Wish List. Die hard Southerners receive them as gifts from Birth onward and are tucked carefully into a hope chest. I personally love to give a set of 2 monogrammed for a new baby boy. I keep telling my daughter her future hubby will love her for having a set of 24 Juleps ready to go! Perhaps this is a tradition you want to start? I'll raise my glass to that!
